The Tomintoul Distillery, located in the Scottish Highlands in Cairngorms National Park and named after the nearby village of Tomintoul, opened its doors in 1964 and is now owned by Angus Dundee Distillers.

At 370 meters above sea level, Tomintoul is Scotland's second-highest distillery, surpassed only by the Braeval Distillery, founded in 1973. Although most of the 3.2 million liters of alcohol produced annually are exported to the United States for blends, Tomintoul regularly releases special single-cask bottlings.

The Tomintoul Peaty Tang is currently the distillery's only whisky made with peated malt. Although the whisky is rather straightforward and the finish is only medium-long, the smokiness, combined with its youthful freshness, takes center stage. It is a light whisky that tastes better the more you sample it and is particularly well suited for the autumn and winter months.
