The Glenlivet Distillery is Scotland's first licensed whisky distillery. The company was founded in 1824. Today it is the largest malt distillery in Scotland, producing around 12 million litres of whisky a year.

This freedom is emulated in The Glenlivet Founder's Reserve Single Malt Scotch Whisky, as the whisky is comprised of a selection from many traditional, old oak casks.

The traditional oak casks, in which whisky previously matured, impart their own characteristics to each expression. To give the whisky's taste a modern touch, Master Distiller Alan Winchester blends a selection of the old oak casks with American first-fill oak casks.

These American first-fill oak casks are casks that have never before been used for maturing whisky. The selective use of these casks provides a gentle, creamy sweetness that harmoniously blends with the whisky's delicate aromas and complex fruit notes.
