Description
Peychaud’s Aromatic Cocktail Bitter is one of the best-known and most time-honoured bitter specialities in the world. Originally developed in the 19th century in New Orleans by the Haitian-born pharmacist Antoine Amedée Peychaud, this aromatic bitter is now one of the indispensable classics of international bar culture. It is particularly closely associated with the famous Sazerac cocktail, in which it plays a central role – not only in terms of flavour, but also historically.
Peychaud’s Bitter is still produced according to a secret original recipe, which relies on selected herbs, roots and botanical ingredients. Compared to other cocktail bitters, such as Angostura, Peychaud’s is distinguished by its characteristic reddish colour and its slightly sweet, aniseed-tinged aroma with floral and bitter notes. Its alcohol content of 35% vol. not only ensures a long shelf life but also makes it intense and economical to use.
The compact 0.148-litre bottle is easy to measure out and is ideal for professional bar use as well as for ambitious home bars. Whether for classic drinks or creative original concoctions – this bitter lends cocktails complexity, depth and aromatic balance.
