Togouchi is produced by Chugoku Jozo, a distillery in the city of Togouchi in Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. The distillery is located in a natural cave system that was originally built as a railway tunnel but was later converted into an ideal environment for maturing whisky. The cool, damp conditions in the tunnels provide an optimal climate for whisky maturation, resulting in a product rich in flavour and character.

As the name suggests, this Togouchi is a blended whisky. This means it is not made from the distillates of a single distillery, but from products of many different distilleries. The individual distillates are blended in such a way as to create a harmonious overall result. The distillates for the Togouchi Premium Blended Whisky were aged for five years in Spanish oak casks, which is rather short for a whisky, and finished in former sherry casks. Despite its youth, this whisky manages to display an appealing richness of nuances.
