Tomintoul Distillery, located in the Scottish Highlands in Cairngorms National Park and named after the nearby village of Tomintoul, opened its doors in 1964 and is now owned by Angus Dundee Distillers.

At 370 meters above sea level, Tomintoul is Scotland's second-highest distillery, surpassed only by Braeval Distillery, founded in 1973. Although most of the 3.2 million liters of alcohol produced annually are exported to the United States for blends, Tomintoul consistently releases special single cask bottlings.

The name of this single malt whisky is no coincidence, as "Tlàth" is Scottish Gaelic and translates to "gentle" or "mild." Tomintoul's motto is to produce a particularly soft and gentle whisky, referred to as a "gentle dram" on Tomintoul whisky packaging.

The basic ingredients of this single malt whisky are malted barley and water, and it gently unfolds its aromas on the palate without smoke. With a rather modest alcohol content of 40% ABV, it offers a light character that is particularly suitable for beginners. The whisky matures in Bourbon casks, which give it its special character.
