The name "Lazy Dodo" refers to the extinct dodo bird, which disappeared in the 18th century and was considered lazy due to its inability to fly.

This bird became a symbol of Mauritius and inspired the distillery to name this rum as a tribute to its homeland and a reminder of extinct animal species.
