Teaninich Distillery, founded in 1817, is one of Scotland's oldest but lesser-known distilleries. Unlike many other Scottish distilleries, Teaninich does not use a traditional mash filter but rather the "Lauter Tun" process, in which solid grain components are completely filtered out. The result is an exceptionally pure, oily, and almost grassy whisky that distinctly sets itself apart from other Highland malts.
