In the mid-17th century, a representative of the French crown acquired large tracts of land on the island and established three vast sugarcane plantations, which formed the basis for later rum production. At the beginning of the 20th century, the decisive step was taken from sugar production to the production of Rhum Agricole – a rum made not from molasses, but from fresh sugarcane juice.

Trois Rivières rums are known for their special production based on sugarcane juice, which gives them an intense freshness and rich aromas that clearly distinguish them from other rum varieties. The sugarcane for this CUVÉE DE L'OCÉAN is grown on the coast near Anse Trabaud beach.
