In the picturesque landscape of Riegersburg in Styria, Alois Gölles, a third-generation farmer, runs the traditional family fruit-growing business. After graduating from the renowned Federal Institute for Viticulture and Pomology in Klosterneuburg, he dedicated himself to refining his parents' harvest of apples, pears, plums, and peaches. His foray into distilling fine brandies began in 1979, followed by the establishment of his manufactory for high-quality vinegar in 1984. Today, the range includes about twenty fine brandies and just as many vinegar varieties, which regularly receive recognition.

Ruotker's RUEDIGER II. matures in five different barrels and is composed of a variety of five grain types: corn, rye, barley, spelt, and wheat. The whiskey is produced in Styria, Austria, near the historic Riegersburg, which was built on an extinct volcano. The grain needed for the whiskey also comes from this region. The name RUEDIGER refers to Rüdiger von Hohenberg, who established a stronghold at Riegersburg in 1122 to protect the local population.
