Bacoo Rum is produced in the Dominican Republic.

The rum, distilled from molasses, bears the name of the Caribbean legend of the Bacoo.

A Bacoo is said to be a spirit that primarily resides in rum bottles and is therefore often called a bottle spirit.

If one keeps the little goblin happy and feeds him milk and bananas, he will grant his "owner" one or two wishes.

Legend has it that if a Bacoo is trapped in a rum bottle, one should throw the bottle into the ocean.

Only then can one keep him away. Whoever finds the sealed bottle with the bottle spirit and frees him will have a wish granted by the defiant goblin.
