The water used to make the rum is not drawn from underground aquifers, but is fed by its own mountain water collection system, returning only clean water to the land after use.

The longer fermentation takes place with natural yeasts. Hampden Estate is one of the last distilleries that still produces its rums in batches; it currently has four operational stills.

Hampden Rums are produced, stored and bottled without any additives, added sugar, tannins, caramel or glycerine.

Rum Fire is a pure Jamaican single rum, with an ester content of 300 to 500 grams, thus belonging to the LROK category.

The basis is the molasses used; the distillation in the pot still further deepens the tropical aromas, creating an astonishingly intense overproof rum.
