The name Shinobu (忍) comes from Japanese and means "patience," "endurance," or "perseverance." This reflects the philosophy of the Shinobu Distillery, where artisanal precision, time, and dedication play a significant role in creating high-quality whisky.

Koshi-No (越の) refers to the historic Echigo region (now Niigata), where the Shinobu Distillery is located. Niigata Prefecture is known for its pure water sources, cold climate, and long tradition in sake and whisky production.

Together, "Koshi-No Shinobu" therefore means "The Patience of the Koshi Region (Echigo/Niigata)," which refers to the long maturation period and careful cask selection in whisky production.

This blended whisky is first aged in ex-bourbon and sherry casks before receiving its finish in Mizunara oak casks. This rare and precious Japanese oak variety imparts a distinctive spice, delicate floral notes, and exceptional depth to the whisky. The 43% ABV whisky impresses with a harmonious, smooth character that is perfectly balanced.

Bottling takes place without artificial colorings.
