Description
In the picturesque landscape of Riegersburg in Styria, Alois Gölles, a third-generation farmer, runs the traditional family fruit-growing business. After graduating from the renowned Federal Institute for Viticulture and Fruit Growing in Klosterneuburg, he dedicated himself to refining his parents' harvest of apples, pears, plums, and peaches. His foray into distilling noble brandies began in 1979, followed by the establishment of his manufactory for high-quality vinegar in 1984. Today, the range includes about twenty noble brandies and just as many vinegar varieties, which regularly receive awards.
The "Ron Johan Rum" is distinguished by its unique origin: it is distilled in Styria, with the molasses necessary for production sourced from Brazil, Paraguay, and the Dominican Republic. Another striking feature of this rum is the bottle's label, which depicts pirate Black Beard and Austrian Archduke Johann. The rum is also dedicated to the latter, which gives it a special cultural and historical dimension.
This dark, strong Ron Johan Strong Rum is made from sugar cane molasses and is characterized by its robust profile. It is bottled at cask strength, which emphasizes its intense flavor complexity. Maturation takes place in a combination of new and used American white oak and ex-bourbon barrels. A special feature is the "dirtier" fermentation and distillation process, which is rich in ester notes. By selecting molasses from different countries, the rum acquires a complex aroma that makes it a unique pleasure.
