The Special Cuvée, whose name was coined in 1911 at the suggestion of the British agent by Georges Bollinger, is still considered the epitome of the Bollinger style. The blend of predominantly Pinot Noir, complemented by Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, stands for depth, structure, and complexity. Only the first pressing is used. A moderate dosage of 7–8 g/l and cellar aging that is twice as long as the appellation requirements characterize this distinctive Champagne Brut. Additionally, reserve wines, some of which age for up to 15 years in magnum bottles, give the champagne exceptional aromatic richness and continuity.
