In the picturesque landscape of Riegersburg in Styria, Alois Gölles, a third-generation farmer, runs the traditional family fruit-growing business. After graduating from the renowned Federal Institute for Viticulture and Fruit Growing in Klosterneuburg, he dedicated himself to refining his parents' apple, pear, plum, and peach harvests. His foray into distilling fine brandies began in 1979, followed by the establishment of his manufactory for high-quality vinegar in 1984. Today, the product range includes around twenty fine brandies and just as many vinegar varieties, which regularly receive accolades.

The "Ron Johan Rum" is distinguished by its unique origin: it is distilled in Styria, with the molasses necessary for production sourced from Brazil, Paraguay, and the Dominican Republic. Another striking feature of this rum is the bottle label, which depicts pirate Black Beard and Austrian Archduke Johann. The rum is also dedicated to the latter, which gives it a special cultural and historical dimension.

Ron Johan Vanilla is the result of the careful combination of organic Bourbon vanilla from Madagascar with high-quality dark rum, distilled from Caribbean sugarcane molasses. For the production of this spiced rum, vanilla pods are steeped directly in rum, resulting in a reduction that focuses exclusively on the pure taste of vanilla. This method allows the full aroma of the vanilla to be extracted and incorporated into the rum.
