Zignum Mezcal Añejo represents a modern interpretation of traditional mezcal production from Mexico, combining artisanal origins with a deliberately elegant style. Produced by Casa Armando Guillermo Prieto in Tlacolula de Matamoros, Oaxaca, this Añejo Mezcal is made from 100% Espadín agave. Unlike many classic mezcals, Zignum's agave hearts are not cooked over smoke but gently steamed. This method preserves the natural agave structure and ensures a particularly clear, soft aromatic profile. Bottled at 40% and delivered in a gift box, this mezcal from Oaxaca presents itself as high-quality and approachable.


After distillation, Zignum Mezcal Añejo matures for 18 months in new French oak barrels. This aging gives the matured mezcal depth, sweetness, and a pronounced barrel structure that can be reminiscent of a Spanish-style rum. In general, mezcal, unlike tequila, can be made from various types of agave and is traditionally strongly artisanal.
