The Domaines Francis Abécassis distillery is located in Claix, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. Cognac has been recognized there as a single estate since the late 1990s.

The distillery owns a 280-hectare vineyard located in the Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, and Fins Bois regions. The Leyrat brand is produced by Domaines Francis Abécassis.

For the Leyrat X.O. Hors D'Âge Single Estate Cognac, exclusive eaux-de-vie from the Fins Bois region are blended. This Cognac matures for at least 30 years. Some of the contained eaux-de-vie are 40, 50, or 100 years old.

The Cognac matures for 6 to 12 months in Limousin oak barrels. It then matures for another 4 to 12 years in slightly older barrels. Finally, it is transferred to an old wooden barrel.
