The Port Charlotte SC:01 2012 is an outstanding Heavily Peated Islay Single Malt Whisky that reflects the essence of the Isle of Islay in every facet. Produced by the renowned Bruichladdich Distillery, this bottling is characterized by its deep roots in local agriculture and innovative cask maturation. For the first time in the Cask Exploration series, this whisky is made from 100% Islay barley, harvested in 2011 by seven farming partners, all located within a 10-mile radius of the distillery.

Distillation took place in 2012, followed by a nine-year maturation in carefully selected casks. It was initially aged in first-fill and second-fill American whiskey casks as well as sherry butts, before being transferred to Sauternes wine casks at various stages of maturation. This special maturation gives the whisky its exceptional depth and a perfect balance between sweet fruitiness and smoky intensity.

With a phenol content of 40 ppm, this whisky presents a smoky profile typical of Port Charlotte, which gains fascinating depth through exceptional cask maturation. This limited bottling combines masterful craftsmanship with innovative maturation, while always remaining true to the intense, peaty style of Port Charlotte.
