Description
Description
Laphroaig is a whisky distillery on the Scottish Hebridean island of Islay and is owned by the Japanese-American Beam Suntory group. The distillery buildings are listed in the Scottish heritage register. In the production of Laphroaig, barley malt is dried over a peat fire. The smoke from this peat, which is only found on Islay, gives Laphroaig its particularly rich flavour.
The Ian Hunter Story comprises a total of five editions, released annually. Book 4: Malt Master is already the fourth and penultimate instalment in this series. The fourth part is dedicated to the establishment of the malt floors. To this day, the distillery produces its own barley malt there as the basis for its excellent whiskies. The packaging of the Laphroaig not only resembles a book, it can actually be opened and the history of the distillery is told on a total of 15 pages.
This 34-year-old whisky first matures in American White Oak Bourbon Barrels. The single malt receives its finish in European first-fill Oloroso Sherry casks before being bottled at 46.2% ABV.
