The Tomintoul Distillery, located in the Scottish Highlands in the Cairngorms National Park and named after the nearby village of Tomintoul, opened its doors in 1964 and is now owned by Angus Dundee Distillers.

At an elevation of 370 meters above sea level, Tomintoul is Scotland's second-highest distillery, surpassed only by the Braeval Distillery, founded in 1973. Although most of the 3.2 million liters of alcohol produced annually are exported to the United States for blends, Tomintoul consistently releases special single-cask bottlings.

Tomintoul's Small Batch Cask Finish series is a remarkable no-age-statement series characterized by its unique finish in a variety of casks. This whisky first undergoes maturation in bourbon casks, where it develops its fundamental aromas and characteristics. Afterwards, it receives its special finish in Merlot Wine Casks, which gives it additional depth and a unique flavor note. This combination of bourbon and Merlot wine casks creates a complex and harmonious taste profile that delights both connoisseurs and enthusiasts.
