The Penfolds BIN 2 line was first presented in 1960 and was originally understood as a medium-bodied "Australian Burgundy" style, even though the grape varieties traditionally originate from the Rhône region. The 2019 vintage was produced under challenging conditions: low rainfall, high summer temperatures, and the cooling effect of the Southern Ocean led to smaller yields but grapes of high quality. It was aged for nine months in French and American oak, both new and used barrels.
