The Knockdhu Distillery was founded in 1894 by John Morrison, after he acquired the Knock Estate in 1892 and recognized the potential of the region. The pure water sources on Knock Hill, the rich deposits of peat and barley, and the connection to the Great North of Scotland Railway line made the location ideal for whisky distillation.

In the Scottish Highlands, especially in the north and west, there are extensive peat bogs that not only shape the landscape but also make an important contribution to whisky production. Peat, which is used to dry the barley, influences the phenol content (PPM) and thus the smoky character of the whisky.

The third bottling of AnCnoc Peatheart, like the previous batches, matures in former Bourbon casks made of American oak. This whisky is bottled without coloring and without chill-filtration to preserve its natural aromas and authentic quality.
