The Balvenie Distillery, which has been producing high-quality whisky since 1892, continues to preserve many traditional methods in its production process to this day. For example, the barley is still grown on site, and the distillery uses a traditional malting floor – a rarity in the modern whisky industry. Furthermore, Balvenie employs its own team of coopers, who are responsible for the maintenance and repair of the casks to ensure optimum quality throughout the entire maturation process.

The production process for Balvenie 18 Years Pedro Ximénez Sherry Cask begins with the careful selection of American oak casks, in which the whisky is initially matured for 18 years. Once it has developed its basic character in these casks, the whisky is transferred to selected Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, where it undergoes a second maturation.

This double-maturation technique enriches the whisky with additional layers of flavour and complexity, resulting in a product that embodies both Balvenie’s heritage and an exceptionally rich and delightful flavour profile.
