Founded in 1743 by Claude Moët in Épernay, France, Moët & Chandon has grown to become a leading name in the champagne market. Jean-Remy Moët, a descendant of the founder, acquired the former Hautvillers Abbey in 1794, where the monk Dom Pérignon developed his groundbreaking champagne production techniques. This was a decisive step that further solidified Moët & Chandon's quality and reputation.

Its connection to historical figures like Napoleon Bonaparte, a close friend of Jean-Remy Moët, helped popularize the champagne on international campaigns, increasing its worldwide appeal. Moët & Chandon always remained based in Épernay and became synonymous with high-quality champagne.

1987 marked another milestone when Moët Hennessy merged with Louis Vuitton to form the luxury goods conglomerate LVMH, which is now globally renowned for its exclusive products.

Moët & Chandon Champagne IMPÉRIAL Brut, a blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Meunier grape varieties, is carefully protected from oxidation during its production. This serves to preserve the original fruitiness of the grapes. To soften the acidity of the grapes, malolactic fermentation is also employed. Extended aging on the lees promotes the development of a fine perlage, while a comparatively lower Brut dosage highlights the champagne's fruity character. Furthermore, the champagne undergoes an aging period that is on average twice as long as legally required. After this, the champagne is bottled and sealed with a natural cork.
