The Deanston Distillery, founded in 1965 in a converted 18th-century cotton mill, began whisky production in 1966. The first products were launched in 1971 under the name Old Bannockburn. After the distillery was acquired by Invergordon Distillers in 1972, the first single malt under the Deanston brand was introduced in 1974. The distillery temporarily closed in 1982, but was reopened in 1991 by Burn Stewart Distillers and has continued whisky production ever since.

The production of Deanston Whisky takes place in the historic buildings of a former cotton mill from 1785, which is characterized by a unique historical ambience. A special feature of this whisky is the finish in casks that previously contained agave tequila from the highlands of Jalisco, which gives it an unmistakable aroma. This special refinement gives Deanston Whisky an exotic note and sets it apart from other single malts.
