Without this purifier, particularly robust, dense, and intense flavors emerge, making this whisky even smokier and spicier than usual.

Ardbeg stands for centuries of tradition: whisky was unofficially distilled here as early as 1794, before John McDougall officially founded the distillery in 1815. The name "Ardbeg" comes from Gaelic and means "small hill" – fitting for its location on the south coast of the legendary whisky region of Islay, known for its heavily peated and maritime-influenced whiskies.
