Description
The Douglas Laing OLD PARTICULAR Ledaig 15 Years Old 2008 is a distinctive single-cask bottling from the independent Scottish bottler Douglas Laing. The spirit comes from Ledaig, the peaty Linie of the Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull, and was distilled in February 2008. The 15-year-old island single malt Scotch whisky was then matured in a refill hogshead before being bottled in May 2023 for the renowned Old Particular range. The single cask used bears the reference number DL17765 and yielded just 349 bottles, giving this bottling a distinctly limited-edition character. It is precisely the combination of long-term maturation and a restrained refill cask that allows the earthy, peaty distillery style to really come to the fore.
At 48.4% ABV, the Ledaig 15 Years Old Single Malt 2008 was bottled at a higher strength to preserve as much of the original cask character as possible. Douglas Laing consistently refrains from using colouring or chill filtration, ensuring the whisky reaches the glass in as authentic a form as possible. Furthermore, this bottling is suitable for a vegan diet. Damp earth, campfire ash and dark syrup define the distinctive opening, whilst allspice, peaty malt and heavily charred oak provide additional depth. In the long finish, smoke, bacon and damp ash combine with a delicate sweetness of burnt sugar. Presented in a 0.7-litre bottle with a gift box, this limited-edition Douglas Laing Old Particular Ledaig combines robust island character with the exclusivity of a single cask.
