Unofficially, distillation has been taking place at the Ardbeg Distillery since 1794 – in 1815, the distillery was purchased by John McDougall and officially opened under the name Ardbeg.

"Ardbeg" comes from Gaelic and translates to "small hill."

The distillery is located on the south coast of the Islay whisky region.

Dr. Bill Lumsden, Director of Distilling, presents this new permanent bottling from Ardbeg; a small batch series released annually.

Ardbeg TRAIGH BHAN Batch No. 5 is a 19-year-old whisky and the latest bottling in the excellent Ardbeg range, largely matured in Oloroso sherry casks. Batch No. 5 undergoes additional maturation in American Oak casks. This combination of cask maturation gives it remarkable depth and complexity. TRAIGH BHAN Batch No. 5 is a tribute to the nature and tradition of the Isle of Islay and offers an exclusive opportunity to experience the unique aromas and characteristics of this region.
