Description
In 1975, Gérard Bertrand began his grape harvest at Château de Villemajou in Corbières, where he discovered his passion for wine. Over twelve years, he honed his skills alongside his father, Georges Bertrand, until the fourth generation eventually continued the legacy. After his father's tragic death in 1987, Gérard Bertrand took over the family leadership at Domaine de Villemajou and founded the Gérard Bertrand wine company. The Gérard Bertrand Group comprises 16 estates and 16 châteaux along the Mediterranean coast of France, spanning a total of 850 hectares. A portion of the hand-harvested grapes matures in 225-liter Bordeaux barrels, while the other portion is stored in stainless steel tanks.
Clos du Temple was named the best rosé wine in the world at the Global Rosé Masters of Drinks Business 2022. Harvesting is done by hand into crates at sunrise to take advantage of the lower night temperatures, and each plot is harvested at the optimal time and vinified separately. After fermentation at a low temperature, clarification takes place between 8 and 10 °C for 24 hours without the addition of sulfites, before the wine matures in new barrels. These barrels were carefully selected based on the origin of the wood. This rosé spends six months on fine lees, with constant stirring of the yeast.
