Sweden originally had no whisky tradition until the Mackmyra Distillery was founded in 1999. The distillery places great importance on using only Swedish products, including crystal-clear regional water and specially cultivated barley with a sweet note due to the long summer days.

This Mackmyra whisky matures in various cask sizes, including ex-Bourbon casks made from American oak, Swedish oak casks, and Oloroso sherry casks, which gives it diverse aromas.

A special note is the "Swedish smoke," which is created by using local peat and juniper branches. This gives the peated whisky a unique taste profile, reminiscent of a campfire in the forest. The peat used comes from the Karinmossen bog near the distillery.
