Description
Juan del Aguila fought alongside Red Hugh O’Donnell and The Great Earl during an arduous two-month campaign at the Battle of Kinsale, the final battle in England’s conquest of Gaelic Ireland and the climax of the Nine Years’ War.
During this time, he lived in Portney’s Lane, Cork, and was very popular with the locals. Upon his return to Spain, where he used his own funds to aid wounded troops, he died in 1602.
Spanish Earl Single Malt Irish Whiskey is initially matured for almost four years in ex-bourbon casks and is then divided between two finishing casks: one ex-Imperial Stout and one aged, golden Jamaican rum. The two triple-distilled Irish whiskies are recombined after a period of at least three months and bottled.
The stout element is inspired by Juan del Aguila’s time in Cork, which has been world-famous for stout production for hundreds of years, whilst the rum – the favourite drink of seafarers of old – lends a sweet toffee note to the stout’s dark chocolate flavour.
Spanish Earl Single Malt Irish Whiskey, triple-distilled, triple-casked, fearless to the core.
