The Mombacho 12 Years Old Sauternes Finish comes from Nicaragua and is produced by the Compania Licorera de Nicaragua; it plays an important role in the Central American country’s rum production.

This rum is significantly influenced by the climatic conditions of the Central American country of Nicaragua.

It is produced by the Compania Licorera de Nicaragua, a company whose origins date back to 1890 and which is based in Managua.

Interestingly, the distillery itself is not located in the capital, Managua, but in the immediate vicinity of the sugar factory in Chichigalpa, some 120 kilometres from Managua.

The name of this rum is derived from the volcano of the same name, Mombacho, which rises near the distillery on the shores of Lake Nicaragua. This volcano, known as Mombacho, not only shapes the surrounding landscape but also plays a role in the climatic conditions and influences that define the character of this rum.

This Mombacho is aged for 12 years in ex-bourbon casks and receives its finish in Sauternes casks.
