As of 2024, the Plantation brand by Maison Ferrand will be renamed Planteray. This decision reflects the company's commitment to demonstrating sensitivity and respect for historical contexts, particularly with regard to issues such as racial equality, equity, and diversity.

The name change aims to make the brand image more modern and cosmopolitan. "Planteray" combines "Plant" for sugarcane and "Ray" for sunbeams that support the growth of sugarcane, thus intending to create a positive association without historical burdens. Despite the name change, the taste and production process of the rums remain unchanged.

After the fermentation of Planteray Rum Spain PX Cask takes two days, it is distilled using the column still method. Subsequently, Planteray Rum Spain is aged for 11 years and 4 months in 200-liter bourbon barrels in its country of origin before being brought to Maison Ferrand in France, where it receives an eight-month finish in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. This finish adds additional depth to the rum by imparting sweet and rich aromas, completing its complex flavor profile.
