As of 2024, Maison Ferrand's Plantation brand will be renamed Planteray. This decision reflects the company's commitment to demonstrating sensitivity and respect for historical contexts, particularly regarding issues such as racial equality, equity, and diversity.

The name change aims to make the brand image more modern and cosmopolitan. "Planteray" combines "Plant" for sugarcane and "Ray" for sunbeams that support sugarcane growth, thereby aiming to create a positive association free from historical burdens. Despite the name change, the taste and production process of the rums remain unaltered.

The West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados produces rum from molasses, which is distilled using both pot and column still methods after a two-day fermentation. After aging for three years in Bourbon barrels in Barbados, the rum is brought to Maison Ferrand in France, where it matures for another two years in Ferrand barrels. A final one-year finish in Amarone casks imparts deep flavors to the rum, creating a particularly complex taste profile.
