Starting in 2024, Maison Ferrand's Plantation brand will be renamed Planteray. This decision reflects the company's commitment to demonstrating sensitivity and respect for historical contexts, particularly concerning issues such as racial equality, equity, and diversity.

The name change aims to make the brand image more modern and cosmopolitan. "Planteray" combines "Plant" for sugarcane and "Ray" for sun rays, which support the growth of sugarcane, thus intending to create a positive association without historical burdens. Despite the name change, the taste and production process of the rums will remain unaltered.

The rum undergoes fermentation for 2 to 3 days before being distilled in a column still. After distillation, it ages for 11 years in Bourbon casks (200 l) in its country of origin, which gives it its fundamental structure. Subsequently, it receives a special finish at MAISON FERRAND, lasting 1 year and 3 months in Ferrand casks (350 l) to develop additional aromas, before maturing for another 9 months in Kopke Port casks.
