Starting in 2024, Maison Ferrand's Plantation brand will be renamed Planteray. This decision reflects the company's commitment to demonstrating sensitivity and respect for historical contexts, particularly concerning issues such as racial equality, equity, and diversity.

The name change aims to make the brand image more modern and cosmopolitan. "Planteray" combines "Plant" for sugarcane and "Ray" for sun rays, which support the growth of sugarcane, thus aiming to create a positive association without historical burdens. Despite the name change, the taste and production process of the rums remain unaltered.

The West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados produces rum from molasses, which, after a two-day fermentation, is distilled using both pot and column still methods. After aging for three years in bourbon casks in Barbados, the rum is transported to Maison Ferrand in France, where it matures for another two years in Ferrand casks. A final one-year finish in Saint-Estèphe wine casks imparts wine-like aromas and fine tannins to the rum, creating a particularly complex flavor profile.
