In Goyave, a small village in the southwest of Guadeloupe on the Atlantic, lies the Domaine Sainte Marie Marquisate, established in 1895, known for the production of Rhum Agricole. Today, the distilleries Karukera and Longueteau share the production facilities on this historic site.

Karukera Vieux, a classic Rhum Agricole, is made from fresh sugarcane juice. This rum matures for at least three years in small oak barrels, which are specially selected to ensure the quality and purity of the final product. The cellar master of Karukera takes particular care not to use any artificial additives, colorings, or sugar. This approach allows the natural characteristics of the local terroir to come to the forefront and preserves the authenticity of the rum.

By avoiding additives and carefully selecting the aging barrels, it is ensured that Karukera Vieux can develop its characteristic aromas, which distinguish it as a high-quality Rhum Agricole.
