The Loch Lomond Distillery, named after the lake of the same name in the Scottish Midlands, is located in Alexandria at the southern tip of the lake. It was founded in 1966 by the American Littlemill Distillery Company, closed in 1984, and reopened in 1987 under the management of the Bulloch family. A special feature of the distillery, in addition to the two classic pot stills, are the six Lomond stills, which are pot stills that have plates in the neck, similar to Coffey stills.

This edition of Loch Lomond, released especially for the Austrian market, was distilled in 2013 and matured for nine years in a Rivesaltes sweet wine cask with the number 22/718-5. A total of 281 bottles were bottled at cask strength.

The Vin Doux Naturel Rivesaltes AOC comes from the Roussillon region in the south of France, near the Pyrenees. Similar to port wine, the natural sweetness is preserved by adding brandy during fermentation. This method of Vin Doux Naturel was discovered in the 13th century by the Catalan physician and pharmacist Arnaldus de Villanova and represents the oldest liqueur wines in the world.
