Description
Big Peat is a remarkable blend of Single Malt Scotch Whiskies sourced exclusively from the Scottish island of Islay. This composition combines the sweet notes of Caol Ila, the balanced flavor of Bowmore, the medicinal-earthy tones of Ardbeg, and the elegant refinement of Port Ellen. Together, they embody the unmistakable character of Islay in a single bottle. As part of Douglas Laing's Remarkable Regional Malts series, Big Peat symbolizes the quintessence of Scotland's Islay whisky region.
Douglas Laing Big Peat The THROPAIGEACH Edition, which means "tropical" in Gaelic, is the special bottling for 2024, released to mark Fèis Ìle, the annual Islay Festival. This limited edition is matured in selected ex-rum casks, lending the traditional Islay Malt a robust yet tropical note.
Fèis Ìle, also known as the Islay Festival, attracts whisky lovers from all over the world. It is an annual celebration of the island's whisky production and local culture. During the festival, distilleries open their doors, offer special tastings and events, and release unique bottled editions.
The design of this bottling is unique: Big Peat appears in a pirate style, fitting the Caribbean rum casks in which the whisky was finished. The bottle label shows Big Peat surrounded by palm trees, parrots, and swords, all in bright yellow hues that emphasize the tropical theme.
Limited to 5,688 bottles worldwide.
