In 1790, 25-year-old George Sandeman, son of a wealthy Scottish cabinetmaker, asked his father for a loan of 300 pounds. His goal was to establish himself as a wine merchant in London. George Sandeman then founded the company Sandeman, which later became one of the world's leading suppliers of Port wine and Sherry.

From the outset, Sandeman specialized in the production and trade of Port wine and Sherry. Unlike today, he did not conduct his business from his own offices, but from Tom's Coffee House in Birchin Lane in London. At that time, business deals were often concluded on the basis of a "gentleman's word." George Sandeman quickly gained an excellent reputation, which still characterizes the Sandeman company today.

Sandeman 10 Years Old Tawny Porto is an elegant, intensely red Port wine, produced from a carefully selected blend of grape varieties such as Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão, Touriga Franca, and Touriga Nacional. The hand-picked grapes are destemmed and gently crushed before fermentation to ensure optimal extraction of the fruit components. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures, followed by the targeted addition of wine alcohol.

The aging of this Port wine traditionally takes place in the centuries-old oak casks of the Sandeman winery in Vila Nova de Gaia. The wines selected for Sandeman 10 Years Old Tawny, which have aged between 9 and 12 years, are regularly tasted and analyzed to guarantee the highest quality. The result is a perfectly balanced Tawny, captivating with its velvety texture and aromas.
