The Tomintoul distillery, located in the Scottish Highlands in the Cairngorms National Park and named after the nearby village of Tomintoul, opened its doors in 1964 and is now owned by Angus Dundee Distillers.

At an elevation of 370 meters above sea level, Tomintoul is Scotland's second-highest distillery, surpassed only by the Braeval Distillery, founded in 1973. Although most of the 3.2 million liters of alcohol produced annually are exported to the United States for blends, Tomintoul regularly releases special single cask bottlings.

The Tomintoul Madeira Cask Finish is a smooth and finely balanced single malt whisky, initially matured in American Bourbon oak casks. It is then finished for two years in fortified wine casks from the Portuguese island of Madeira, which gives it its unique depth and complexity. This special secondary maturation imparts intense aromas of juicy fruits, delicate oat biscuits, and spicy cake, which harmoniously blend to offer a well-rounded taste experience.
