Unofficially, distillation has been taking place at the Ardbeg Distillery since 1794 – in 1815, the distillery was purchased by John McDougall and officially opened under the name Ardbeg.

"Ardbeg" comes from Gaelic and translates to "small hill."

The distillery is located on the south coast of the Islay whisky region.

Ardbeg The Ultimate Private Single Cask Cask No. 3201 enriches the exclusive partnership between Weisshaus and Ardbeg and celebrates the distinctive Ardbeg style in a special way. This single cask, reserved exclusively for the Weisshaus Shop, began its maturation on August 1, 2012. Over 11 years, the whisky matured in first-fill Bourbon barrels, intensifying its typical Ardbeg characteristics. With a worldwide limitation of only 180 bottles, this rare whisky embodies the essence of the distillery in its most extraordinary form.
