Unofficially, the Ardbeg Distillery has been distilling since 1794 – in 1815, the distillery was bought by John McDougall and officially opened under the name Ardbeg.
"Ardbeg" comes from Gaelic and translates to "small hill".
The distillery is located on the south coast of the Islay whisky region.
Dr. Bill Lumsden, Director of Distilling, presents this new permanent bottling from Ardbeg; a limited edition that is released annually.
Ardbeg TRAIGH BHAN 19 Years Old Batch No. 6, like its predecessors, matures in a careful selection of ex-Bourbon and Oloroso Sherry casks, which give it its exceptionally complex aromas. With an alcohol content of 46.2 percent by volume, this outstanding whisky is bottled without colouring or chill-filtration.
