The history of Krug dates back to 1843, when Johann-Joseph Krug founded the House, which has since been dedicated to crafting Champagnes of unrivalled refinement and depth.

In 2006, Champagne was hit by a heatwave, bringing extreme temperatures and 23 days above 30°C. The weather alternated between very dry periods and heavy rainfall, with two months' worth of precipitation falling in just two weeks in August. Fortunately, the end of the season was sunny, allowing the grape varieties to reach a similar level of maturity at harvest as in 2002 and 1989, two particularly generous years.

2006 produced elegant and balanced Pinot Meuniers, which displayed pear and apple notes, as well as particularly aromatic Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs from the Marne Valley, which attested to a promising structure and great potential. After maturing for 12 years in the underground cellars, this exceptional Cuvée gained additional balance and finesse.
