The Tomintoul distillery, located in the Scottish Highlands in the Cairngorms National Park and named after the nearby village of Tomintoul, opened its doors in 1964 and is now owned by Angus Dundee Distillers.

At 370 meters above sea level, Tomintoul is Scotland's second-highest distillery, surpassed only by the Braeval Distillery, founded in 1973. Although most of the 3.2 million liters of alcohol produced annually are exported to the United States for blends, Tomintoul consistently releases special single cask bottlings.

This limited edition single malt, distilled in Tomintoul in 2008, spent a total of 15 years in carefully selected casks, thereby achieving its particular maturity. After an initial maturation period in American oak bourbon casks, which imparted its fundamental flavors, the whisky received a special finish in selected Tawny Port Barriques.

These casks were personally chosen by Master Distiller Robert Fleming to give the whisky additional depth and a distinctive flavor profile. Without the addition of coloring and without chill filtration, the single malt was bottled, preserving its natural purity and emphasizing its artisanal quality.
