Hödl Hof, first mentioned in 1542 during a tax collection for the defense against the Turks, was a highly esteemed fief of the Stubenbergers, managed by Hans Hedl. Even then, the farm was considered "kaufrecht" (heritable), which promised the family long-term security. Over the centuries, the farm developed into a renowned fruit distillery in Stubenberg am See, Styria, Austria.

The seventh generation, Franz and Gisela Dunst, inherited the legacy, with Franz converting the farm to fruit and wine cultivation and developing a passion for schnapps distillation. Alfred Dunst, another descendant from 2002, later founded a commercial fruit distillery, specialized in schnapps, and led the business to organic certification in 2022, making Hödl Hof a modern organic enterprise.

After 1.5 years of careful development, Hödl Hof introduced its London Dry Gin, which quickly secured a position among the best gins. Characterized by the uniqueness of each batch and vintage, the 1542 London Dry Gin Old Classic from Hödl Hof particularly stands out. As a classic juniper spirit, created from 15 carefully selected botanicals, it impresses with its rich aroma profile.

The bottling is done with an alcohol content of 42% in black, medieval clay bottles.
