The American Single Malt Whiskey Commission's definition:

Made from 100% malted barley. Distilled at a single distillery. Mashed, distilled, and matured in the USA. Matured in oak barrels (not exceeding 700 liters). Distilled at no more than 160 proof/80% ABV. Bottled at 80 proof/40% ABV or more.

Westward Whiskey's response and interpretation:

Made from two-row barley grown and malted in the Pacific Northwest. Every drop produced at our distillery in Portland, Oregon. Mashed, distilled, and matured in the heart of the American Northwest. Matured in new American, lightly charred, 53-gallon oak barrels. Distilled at approximately 142 proof/71% ABV. Bottled at 90 proof/45% ABV.

The American Single Malt rests for 3 years and is blended into small batches with no more than 10-20 barrels through "mingling."

Neither chill-filtered nor colored.
