The distillery was founded in 1897 near Knockando and is now part of Ian Macleod Distillers. For this 12-year-old single malt Scotch whisky, Tamdhu relies entirely on maturation in carefully selected Oloroso sherry casks from Spain. Both first-fill and refill Oloroso sherry casks made from American and European oak are used. Thanks to its exclusive maturation in sherry casks, the whisky develops a particularly harmonious blend of dried fruit, sweet spice, malt and delicate oak, without any subsequent finish overpowering its fundamental character.

At 43% ABV, the Tamdhu 12 Years Old Limited Release is smooth yet aromatically complex. The Speyside character is evident in its fruity sweetness, notes of pastry and an elegant cask-derived spiciness, whilst the long Oloroso sherry cask maturation lends additional depth and structure. Particularly noteworthy are its natural colour and the absence of chill filtration, which ensures that the whisky’s original character remains as unaltered as possible.
