According to legend, the story of the famous Negroni began in 1919 when the charismatic Count Camillo Negroni entered the Cafe Casoni in Florence and asked the bartender Fosco Scarselli to "strengthen" his Americano. Scarselli decided to replace the soda of the classic Americano with gin, creating a new, stronger drink.

From then on, the Count always ordered "the usual," and soon other guests imitated his preference by asking for the "Conte Negroni Style Americano." This demand led to the development of the Negroni known today, a cocktail made from bitter, vermouth, and gin.
