The 12-year-old Dictador Icon Reserve is distilled from the fermentation of ‘Suger Cane Honey’ – a honey-like sugar cane syrup which, unlike molasses, is an extract from fresh sugar cane juice. Distillation takes place partly in copper alembics and partly in steel tanks, using the column distillation process. This results in a medium-bodied rum with a pleasantly aromatic character. The rum is aged in American oak casks. To ensure that all the secrets remain locked within the liquid’s aroma, the bottles are then filled under the strictest quality control. Unlike many other ‘mainstream rums’ available today, Dictador rum is not sweetened. Nevertheless, it possesses a slight natural sweetness, which gives it a particularly harmonious character.
